Representative Beth Quimby
Beth M. Quimby was born and raised in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. She attended Concord High School, where she developed a strong interest in mathematics. Her academic excellence earned her a place at the University of Vermont (UVM), where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Beth graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Her passion for the subject led her to return to UVM later in life to earn a master’s degree in mathematics through the Vermont Mathematics Initiative.
Beth Quimby dedicated over 30 years of her life to education, teaching middle school mathematics at Barton Graded School in Barton, Vermont. Her commitment to her students and her subject was unwavering, and she retired from teaching in June 2023. Throughout her career, Beth was known for her innovative teaching methods and her ability to inspire a love of mathematics in her students.
Beth has always been deeply involved in her community. She has served as a Justice of the Peace and has been an active member of the boards of two local historical societies. Her dedication to public service and her community is evident in her various roles and contributions.
Beth enjoys an active lifestyle, which includes weight training, gravel biking, and four-season hiking. Her love for the outdoors and physical fitness is a significant part of her life, and she often spends her free time exploring the natural beauty of Vermont.
In 2024, Beth Quimby was appointed to the Vermont House of Representatives to fill the seat vacated by Representative Charles Wilson. She represents the Caledonia-3 District as a member of the Republican Party. Beth’s legislative focus includes agriculture, food resiliency, and forestry, reflecting her commitment to the sustainable development of Vermont’s natural resources.
