Representative Dane Whitman
Dane Whitman was born and raised in Ventura County, California. In 2012, he moved to Bennington, Vermont, to enroll at Bennington College. At Bennington, Dane pursued his passion for food systems and public action, earning a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a double concentration in these fields, as well as music.
Following his graduation, Dane was awarded the prestigious Kilpatrick Fellowship from Bennington College. This fellowship provided him with a full-time mentorship program in construction project management and sustainability. Leveraging this experience, Dane joined MSK Engineering & Design, where he served as an engineer tech for the Town of Bennington’s PFOA Waterline Remediation Project.
In addition to his engineering work, Dane has a rich background in agriculture, having worked for various small farms throughout New England. His commitment to sustainable practices and community service led him to establish his own small business, Grey Oak Landscaping & Garden Design, LLC, which serves the Bennington area.
Dane Whitman was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives on November 3rd, 2020, representing the Bennington-2 district. As a member of the House, he serves on the House Committee on Human Services and the Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee. His legislative work focuses on addressing critical issues such as public health, environmental sustainability, and community development.
Beyond his legislative duties, Dane is actively involved in his local community. He serves as the Vice Chair of the Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School District board and is a member of the Shires Young Professionals Advisory Board. His dedication to public service and community engagement is evident in his ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for his constituents.
