Biography of Representative Jubilee McJubilee McGill was born and raised in Middlebury, Vermont. She pursued her higher education at the Vermont State College system, where she earned a degree in business. Her early life experiences, including facing poverty and homelessness, significantly shaped her future career and advocacy work.

In 2016, Jubilee and her husband Lawrence settled in Bridport, Vermont. Together, they are raising their four children. Jubilee’s personal experiences have deeply influenced her commitment to community service and advocacy.

Jubilee McGill has dedicated her career to working with nonprofits, focusing on managing affordable housing and advocating to eradicate homelessness in Vermont. Her personal journey through poverty and homelessness has fueled her passion for helping others in similar situations.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jubilee founded Addison County Mutual Aid, a neighbor-to-neighbor volunteer network. This initiative was designed to ensure that all Vermonters could continue to meet their needs during the unprecedented crisis. The network has been a vital support system for many residents, showcasing Jubilee’s commitment to community and mutual aid.

Jubilee has also served as the chair of the board of a bi-state organization that advocates for progressive policies. This organization helps marginalized residents of Vermont and New Hampshire run for office, furthering Jubilee’s mission to create a more inclusive and equitable society.

Jubilee McGill was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives in 2023, representing the Addison-5 district. In the legislature, she brings her extensive experience and strong commitment to community, equity, and compassion. Her work focuses on building a Vermont where all residents can thrive.

Jubilee serves on the House Committee on Human Services and the Canvassing Committee. She is also a member of the General Assistance Emergency Housing Task Force, where she continues her advocacy for affordable housing and support for vulnerable populations.

When not working in Montpelier, Jubilee enjoys spending time with her family and their dog, Effie. They often hike and swim in the mountains, embracing the natural beauty of Vermont. Jubilee is also an avid reader and enjoys curling up with a book and a cup of spicy chai tea.
