Biography of Representative Kelly Pajala
Early Life and Education
Kelly MacLaury Pajala was born on December 15, 1978, in Pennington, New Jersey. At the age of 11, she moved with her family to Weston, Vermont. She attended Burr and Burton Academy, where she completed her high school education. Kelly then pursued higher education at Skidmore College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies.
Career and Public Service
Kelly Pajala’s career in public service began in Weston, Vermont, where she served as the assistant town clerk. Her dedication and commitment to her community led her to become the town clerk of Londonderry, Vermont. In addition to her role as town clerk, Kelly is a small business owner and an active member of her community. She chairs the Londonderry Town Parks board and is a long-time vendor at the West River Farmer’s Market.
Vermont House of Representatives
In 2017, Kelly Pajala was appointed to the Vermont House of Representatives by Governor Phil Scott, following the resignation of Oliver Olsen. She represents the Windham-Bennington-Windsor district as an independent. Kelly has successfully won re-election in both the 2018 and 2020 elections, running unopposed.
Legislative Work
As a member of the Vermont House of Representatives, Kelly serves on the Human Services Committee. Her legislative work focuses on issues related to human services, and she has been actively involved in various committees, including the House Discrimination Prevention Panel, where she serves as Chair, and the Canvassing Committee. Kelly is also the Clerk of the Special Committee on Impeachment Inquiry.
