Senator Kannan Srinivasan

Kannan Srinivasan is a member of the Democratic Party serving in the Virginia State Senate, representing District 32. He assumed office on January 15, 2025, following a special election, and his current term is set to end on January 12, 2028.

Born in Chennai, India, Kannan Srinivasan pursued his education with a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Vivekananda College at the University of Madras and later earned an M.S. in accounting from Old Dominion University. His professional journey includes significant roles in finance, working for a technology insurance business in Sterling, Virginia, and contributing to the finance departments of José Andrés’ restaurant group. His expertise in management and finance has been a cornerstone of his career.

Before his tenure in the Virginia State Senate, Srinivasan served in the Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 26. His election to the House marked a significant milestone, as he became a prominent voice for his constituents, advocating for policies that promote economic growth, healthcare accessibility, and community development. His leadership and dedication to public service earned him recognition and paved the way for his transition to the Senate.
