Senator Adrian Cortes

Adrian Cortes is a member of the Democratic Party serving in the Washington State Senate. He represents the 18th Legislative District, having assumed office on January 13, 2025. His current term is set to end in January 2029.

Adrian Cortes has a long history of public service and community involvement. Before joining the Washington State Senate, he served on the Battle Ground Planning Commission and was later elected to the Battle Ground City Council, where he served three terms. During his tenure on the council, he was elected mayor from 2020 to 2021. As mayor, he focused on improving the lives of Battle Ground residents by reducing utility taxes, investing in public safety and infrastructure, and ensuring a fiscally responsible budget.

Cortes has deep roots in the 18th Legislative District, having moved to the area when he was just six years old. He has remained a dedicated resident ever since. In addition to his political career, Cortes is a second-career educator, working as a special education teacher in the Camas School District. His experience as an educator, father, and public servant brings a unique perspective to his role in the Senate.

In the Washington State Senate, Cortes serves as the vice chair of the Business, Financial Services & Trade Committee. He is also a member of the Early Learning & K-12 Education and Transportation committees. His legislative priorities include advocating for education, improving transportation infrastructure, and supporting small businesses. Cortes is committed to putting people first and ensuring that the voices of his constituents are heard in the legislative process.

Adrian Cortes resides in Battle Ground, Washington, where he is raising his two daughters. His dedication to his community and his passion for public service continue to drive his work in the Washington State Senate.
