Representative April Berg

Throughout her entire life and career, April Berg has been driven by a steadfast commitment to equity, inclusion, and achieving tangible results. Her background resonates deeply with the diverse makeup of the district she represents, advocating passionately for excellent public education, informed by her experiences in small business, aerospace, and community building.

As the former proprietor of The Edmonds Inn: Bed and Breakfast, April honed her skills in business management, customer service, and problem-solving. Her tenure as a Boeing Procurement Agent and Program Manager in aerospace further shaped her understanding of industry dynamics and operational excellence.

Originally from the Southside of Chicago, April relocated to the Northwest for her education. At Oregon State University, she made history as the first Black and youngest student body president, later appointed as a student representative to the Oregon State Board of Higher Education by the governor.

Today, April Berg is honored to be the first Black woman representing Washington’s 44th District. Her family has called Snohomish County home for over two decades, with her children attending local schools and universities.

Education is a cornerstone of April’s values—she has served on the Edmonds and Everett School Boards, advocating for updated resources, technological advancements, vocational education, and supporting families during the challenges of COVID school closures.

Additionally, her role as a planning commissioner for the City of Mill Creek enabled April to foster partnerships, enhance transit options, and champion affordable housing solutions amid the district’s rapid growth.

April’s journey into public service—from local schools to city planning and now the State House—has been driven by a belief that every voice deserves to be heard. She draws inspiration from the diverse communities she serves, aiming to represent all constituents, from youth to seniors, small business owners to veterans.

Together, April Berg and her constituents navigate the opportunities and challenges facing their district, united in the pursuit of a brighter future for all. It’s a privilege for April to serve and advocate for the 44th District of Washington in the State House, continually learning and growing alongside those she represents.
