Bill George Ramos (born April 6, 1956) is a Democratic member of the Washington Legislature representing the State’s 5th House district for position 1. He has held office since 2019 after being elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2020.

Background and Early Life: Bill Ramos grew up in East Oakland, California, where he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by students who lack the necessary resources for success. His commitment to education and community service began during these formative years.

Education and Professional Experience:

  • Ramos attended Humboldt State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Forest Sciences. His passion for environmental stewardship and public service led him to work with the U.S. Forest Service in North Bend and Enumclaw.
  • During his tenure with the Forest Service, Ramos held various roles, including Director of Timber Management, Director of Recreation and Public Services, and Director of Ecosystem Management. His team of biological and earth scientists conducted critical environmental analyses of federal lands.
  • From 2005 to 2013, Bill served with the U.S. Department of Transportation in the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). As a Community Planner, he specialized in developing and managing the Tribal Transit Program, as well as Rural and Small Urban Area Transit Systems. His work as the Federal Tribal Liaison involved collaborating with 56 tribes in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska to enhance public transit on tribal lands.
  • Ramos is also a small business owner, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to economic growth.

Community Involvement:

  • Bill Ramos served as a member of the Issaquah City Council from 2016 to 2019. His contributions included serving on Issaquah’s Economic Vitality Commission, the Planning and Policy Commission, and as Chair of the Issaquah Human Service Commission.

    • Advocating for the timely completion of Highway 18 widening and securing funding for Highway 169.
