Bruce Chandler, born on May 7, 1952, is an American politician affiliated with the Republican Party. He assumed office as a member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing District 15-Position 1, in 1999.

Bruce Chandler is serving his thirteenth term representing the 15th District, which is located in east Yakima County. Bruce focuses on policies promoting water storage, economic growth and the safety of Washington’s families

He is currently the assistant ranking Republican on the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and has served as lead Republican on the committee in the past. In 2013 he was chosen by his colleagues to be the budget leader for House Republicans and was the ranking Republican on the Appropriations Committee through 2018. He continues to serve on the budget committee and is also serving on the Postsecondary Education and Workforce Committee.

Bruce has received numerous awards during his legislative career, including the 2012 “W. Fred With Memorial Award” from the Yakima Association of Realtors; the Washington Farm Bureau Commendation Award for Leadership in 2018; he received the 2009 “Legislator of the Year” Award from the Washington State Potato Commission; the Railroad Crew Recognition Award in 2017 and their Exemplary Leadership Award in 2019; the 2008 “Key Award” from the Washington Coalition for Open Government; the 2016 Certificate of Appreciation for services as an Ex Officio on the Washington State Gambling Commission; the 2016 Action for Developmentally Disabled Community Appreciation Award; and the “In the Bag” award from the Washington Food Industry Association from 2006 to 2012. He also received the Affiliated Tribes Northwest Indians and Yakama Nation Appreciation Award in 2018 and the Friends of the Farm Bureau Award in 2019.

He serves on the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) Delegate Council and is a former member of the board of directors for the State Agriculture and Rural Leaders Association.

Chandler has three grown children and more than 30 years of experience in the fruit industry and currently owns and operates a commercial fruit orchard near Granger.
