Representative Bryan Sandlin
Bryan is a lifelong resident of the Yakima Valley. He started working on his family farm at an early age. At twelve-years old, he was able to oversee a crew of ten for his first apple harvest and would later become manager of Sandlin Farms, Inc.
Bryan graduated from Zillah High School in 1976. He earned his bachelor’s degree in General Studies with an emphasis on business, political science, and horticulture from Washington State University. He interned in the 1981 legislative session, assigned to Appropriations Chairman Rep. Bob Williams. In the fall of 1981, he also interned with Congressman Sid Morrison in Washington, D.C.
For more than 20 years, Bryan was the lead fieldman and operations manager for Highland Fruit Growers, Inc. He is widely known for his time spent as President of Sandlin Farms, Inc., Highland Fruit, Yakima Fruit and Cold Storage, and Price Cold Storage and Packing Company. He is currently a contract private consultant in the Washington Tree Fruit Industry.
Bryan serves on four committee within the Legislature including two fiscal committees, the Appropriations and Capital Budget committees. He also sits on the House Consumer Protection and Business Committee, the Environment and Energy Committee, as well as the Legislative Oral History Committee, which meets outside the regular legislative schedule.
Bryan has spent many hours volunteering in the community coaching youth basketball and baseball.
He is a grandfather of three, a father of four, plus two sons-in-law, and a husband to his wife Debbie of 39 years. Bryan is a member of St. Paul’s Cathedral Parish in Yakima. He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing trips to Hells Canyon, and golf with close friends. Bryan and Debbie reside near Zillah, where they raised their four children.
