Representative Michael Keaton

Michael Keaton is a Republican member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing District 25. He assumed office on January 13, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 11, 2027.

Michael Keaton grew up near SeaTac Airport in Washington, where he developed a deep appreciation for aviation and his home state. He pursued higher education at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, and later obtained a Master of Aerospace Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His academic background laid the foundation for a distinguished career in both public service and the defense industry.

Before entering politics, Keaton served as a combat fighter pilot in the United States Air Force for two decades, piloting F-16 Fighting Falcons. His military service earned him the call sign “Batman,” a nod to his namesake in popular culture. After retiring from the Air Force, he transitioned to a role in the defense industry, where he worked as a senior manager and operational subject matter expert, focusing on warfighter integration.

Keaton’s commitment to community service was evident during his tenure on the Puyallup School Board from 2015 to 2023. In this role, he prioritized expanding Career Technical Education programs, fostering parental and community engagement, and emphasizing academic excellence. His dedication to education and leadership made him a respected figure in his community.

As a legislator, Keaton serves on several committees, including the Education Committee, where he is the assistant ranking member. He also contributes to the Appropriations Committee, the Postsecondary Education and Workforce Committee, and the Technology, Economic Development, and Veterans Committee. His legislative work reflects his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by families, veterans, students, and businesses across Washington state.
