Representative Osman Salahuddin

Osman Salahuddin is a Democratic representative serving in the Washington State House of Representatives. He represents the 48th Legislative District, Salahuddin assumed office on January 7, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 12, 2026.

He Born and raised in Redmond, Washington, Osman Salahuddin is the eldest of three children in a family of Pakistani immigrants. His upbringing in a multigenerational household instilled in him a deep sense of community and responsibility. Salahuddin attended schools in the Lake Washington School District and graduated from the International Community School in 2014. He later pursued higher education at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology with a minor in English. During his time at the university, he served as the Student Body President, showcasing his leadership skills and commitment to student welfare.

Before entering politics, Salahuddin gained valuable experience in various professional roles. He worked in management at a medical device research consulting firm and contributed to groundbreaking research at UW Medicine and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. His dedication to public service was evident in his role as the Communications and Community Engagement Manager for King County Councilmember Sarah Perry. Salahuddin’s passion for serving his community led him to run for public office, and he was elected to the Redmond City Council in 2023.

As a state representative, Salahuddin is committed to addressing the pressing issues facing his district and the state of Washington. He serves on several key committees, including the House Capital Budget, Civil Rights & Judiciary, and Postsecondary Education & Workforce Committees. His legislative priorities include tackling the rising cost of living, improving access to affordable housing, childcare, and healthcare, and promoting economic stability. Salahuddin approaches governance as a collaborative effort, emphasizing the importance of listening to his constituents and taking action to address their concerns.
