Senator Victoria Hunt

Victoria Hunt is a member of the Democratic Party and currently serves in the Washington State Senate, representing District 5. She assumed office on June 3, 2025, and her current term will conclude on January 8, 2029.

Victoria Hunt was born and raised with a strong academic focus, earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 2007 and later completing her Ph.D. in computational ecology at the University of Illinois in 2015. Professionally, she has worked as a data scientist and urban planner, roles that gave her extensive experience in analyzing complex systems and developing solutions for communities. Her background in science and planning provided her with a unique perspective on policymaking, particularly in areas related to environmental sustainability, technology, and urban development.

Hunt began her political career in the Washington House of Representatives, where she briefly served in District 5-Position 1 starting in January 2025. She succeeded Bill Ramos in that role, but her tenure in the House was short-lived as she transitioned to the State Senate later that year following Ramos’s passing. Her election to the Senate marked a continuation of her commitment to public service and her dedication to representing the diverse communities of District 5, which includes parts of eastern King County such as Issaquah, North Bend, and Snoqualmie.

As a legislator, Hunt has prioritized issues such as environmental protection, renewable energy, transportation infrastructure, and equitable economic development. She serves as vice chair of the Senate Environment, Energy & Technology Committee and is also a member of the Transportation and Labor & Commerce Committees.
