Victoria Hunt is a Democratic Party member serving in the Washington House of Representatives. She represents District 5, Position 1, and assumed office on January 13, 2025. Her current term is set to end on January 11, 2027.

Victoria Hunt has a strong academic background, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 2007 and a Ph.D. in Computational Ecology from the University of Illinois in 2015. Her career has been marked by significant contributions to data science and urban planning. She has worked as the Chief Data Officer at Crosswalk Labs and as a faculty member at the University of Washington’s Urban Design and Planning Department. Additionally, she served as a data scientist at Breakthrough Energy, a climate research firm founded by Bill Gates, where she focused on electricity grid issues and modeling the U.S. electric grid.

Before her tenure in the Washington House of Representatives, Hunt was deeply involved in local governance. She served three terms on the Issaquah City Council, where she championed initiatives for increased housing density and affordability. During her time as City Council President in 2020 and 2021, she played a pivotal role in establishing a partnership with a local motel to provide temporary housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. This initiative successfully helped approximately 40 individuals transition to permanent housing.

Hunt’s political career in the Washington House of Representatives began with her victory in the 2024 election, where she succeeded Democrat Bill Ramos. Her campaign emphasized environmental legislation, affordable housing, and emergency preparedness. She has been a vocal advocate for policies aimed at reducing carbon pollution and ensuring grid reliability during the transition to cleaner energy sources.
