Born on May 3, 1963, she grew up in West Virginia, surrounded by the rolling hills and tight-knit communities that define the state. Her parents, the late Paul and Nel Elder, instilled in her a strong work ethic and a commitment to making a difference.

After completing her education, Amy earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University and later pursued a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on Leadership and Management from Western Governors University. Armed with her nursing expertise, she embarked on a journey that would lead her to the heart of West Virginia’s legislative process.

In 2014, Amy Summers was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 73rd district, which includes Taylor County. Her background as a nurse uniquely positioned her to advocate for healthcare policies that would positively impact her constituents. Throughout her tenure, she championed initiatives related to public health, access to quality healthcare, and support for healthcare professionals.
