Senator Anne Charnock

Anne Charnock, a member of the Republican Party, serves in the West Virginia State Senate representing District 17. She assumed office on February 6, 2025, following her appointment by Governor Patrick Morrisey. Her current term is set to end on December 1, 2028.

Anne Charnock brings a wealth of experience to her role as a state senator. Before her appointment, she served as a municipal judge in Charleston, West Virginia, from 2010 to 2022. Her legal background, combined with her deep understanding of the challenges faced by her community, positions her as a dedicated advocate for her constituents. A graduate of George Washington High School, she pursued higher education at West Virginia University, earning both her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees.

Charnock’s commitment to public service is evident in her active participation in various legislative committees. She serves as the Vice Chair of the Confirmations Committee and is a member of several others, including Banking and Insurance, Economic Development, Energy, Industry and Mining, Government Organization, and Judiciary. Her interim committee assignments further reflect her focus on energy, manufacturing, and judicial matters.

Born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia, Anne Charnock is deeply rooted in her community. She is affiliated with the Elizabeth Memorial United Methodist Church and has been an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Her parents, Pat and John Charnock, have been influential figures in her life, instilling in her the values of hard work and dedication.

As a senator, Charnock is committed to addressing the pressing issues facing her district and the state of West Virginia. Her approach is grounded in her belief that understanding the needs of the people is paramount. Drawing from her years of experience in the judiciary, she aims to bring a balanced and empathetic perspective to her legislative work.
