Representative Bill Bell

Bill Bell is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 8. He assumed office on July 7, 2025, and his current term will conclude on December 1, 2026.

Bill Bell was born on April 18, 1987, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and has built a career centered around education, civic engagement, and public service. He graduated from West Virginia University at Parkersburg in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He later pursued advanced studies, earning a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University in 2018 and a Master of Arts in American History and Government from Ashland University in 2023. Additionally, he completed a post-graduate certificate in school principalship from Marshall University, further strengthening his expertise in educational leadership.

Professionally, Bell has worked as a fifth-grade teacher for Wetzel County Schools, where he has been recognized for his dedication to students and excellence in teaching. His achievements include being named the 2025 West Virginia History Teacher of the Year and serving as a James Madison Congressional Fellow in 2025, as well as a James Madison Fellow in 2021. Beyond teaching, he has also served as an adjunct faculty member at West Virginia University at Parkersburg, contributing to higher education and mentoring future educators.

Bell’s political career began when he was appointed by Governor Patrick Morrisey in July 2025 to fill the vacancy left by Delegate David Kelly, who resigned to become Commissioner of the Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Representing District 8, which includes Doddridge, Tyler, and Wetzel counties, Bell has focused on issues related to education, community development, and responsible governance. His committee assignments include serving on the Education Committee and the Public Education Committee, as well as participating in interim commissions such as the Forest Management Review Commission. These roles allow him to influence legislation that directly impacts schools, families, and communities across his district.

In addition to his legislative and professional work, Bell has been active in civic organizations. He serves as president of the Paden City Lions Club, reflecting his commitment to community service and local leadership. His Baptist faith and strong ties to his hometown have shaped his values and approach to public service, reinforcing his dedication to fairness, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of his constituents.

With his current term set to conclude in 2026, Bill Bell continues to serve as a dedicated public servant in the West Virginia House of Delegates. His tenure highlights his commitment to education, civic responsibility, and the advancement of policies that strengthen communities across the state.
