Representative Gregory Watt

Gregory Watt is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 48. He assumed office on October 15, 2025, and his current term will conclude on December 1, 2026.

Watt was appointed to the House of Delegates by Governor Patrick Morrisey on October 3, 2025, to fill the vacancy left by Tom Clark. Watt brings to the legislature a distinguished background in military service and defense contracting. He is a retired U.S. Army officer with 28 years of active duty service, during which he held numerous leadership positions and gained extensive experience in national defense operations. Following his military career, Watt transitioned into defense contracting and program management, accumulating more than 16 years of experience in supporting military modernization and technology integration. His professional expertise includes senior roles with the U.S. Army Futures Command, TRADOC, and other national defense priorities, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing the country’s defense capabilities.

Watt’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York College at Fredonia, graduate studies at Webster University, and advanced military education at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College. These academic and professional experiences have provided him with a strong foundation in leadership, organizational management, and strategic planning, all of which inform his approach to governance.

As a legislator, Watt has been assigned to committees such as Health and Human Resources, Health Care Regulation, and Public Education. He also participates in interim commissions including the Forest Management Review Commission, Health and Human Resources Accountability, and Volunteer Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services. These roles allow him to contribute to policymaking on issues vital to West Virginia, including healthcare, education, and community safety. His legislative priorities reflect his commitment to responsible governance, transparency, and ensuring that policies strengthen both local communities and the broader state.

Beyond his professional and legislative work, Watt resides in Hacker Valley, West Virginia, and remains deeply connected to his community.
