Representative Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin is a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing District 88. He assumed office on January 6, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 4, 2027.

Born on October 16, 1982, in Carthage, Illinois, Franklin grew up in a family that valued community service and hard work. During his youth, his family relocated to Keokuk, Iowa, where he attended Keokuk High School. While in high school, Franklin actively participated in community initiatives, volunteering for organizations such as Relay for Life, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Boy Scouts of America. His early involvement in these activities laid the foundation for his commitment to public service.

After graduating high school, Franklin enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction. During his time in the military, he pursued higher education and earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from Trident University International in 2020. His military service not only honed his leadership skills but also instilled in him a deep sense of duty and responsibility.

Franklin’s professional career is marked by his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his community. He worked as a director of operations for Papa John’s Pizza and also owned and operated several franchise locations. His experience as a small business owner provided him with firsthand insight into the challenges faced by local businesses, shaping his policy priorities as a legislator.

In 2024, Franklin announced his candidacy for the Wisconsin State Assembly to represent District 88. The district, which underwent changes under new legislative maps, became a competitive battleground. Franklin’s campaign focused on issues such as economic development, veterans’ affairs, and government accountability. He pledged to support term limits for congressional representatives and emphasized his commitment to serving the interests of his constituents.

Franklin’s campaign gained significant attention and support, ultimately leading to his victory in the general election on November 5, 2024. He defeated his Democratic opponent, Christy Welch, by a narrow margin, showcasing his ability to connect with voters across the political spectrum.

As a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, Franklin serves on several committees, including the Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs, where he holds the position of Vice-Chair.
