Representative Dean Kaufert
Dean Kaufert is a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 53rd Assembly District. He assumed office on January 6, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 4, 2027.
Born on May 23, 1957, in Menasha, Wisconsin, Dean Kaufert has spent much of his life in the Fox Valley region, including Neenah and Menasha. He graduated from Neenah High School in 1975 and later attended the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. Before entering politics, Kaufert was a small business owner, co-founding All-Sport Trophy & Engraving, a business specializing in trophies and awards.
Kaufert’s political career began in 1986 when he was elected to the Neenah City Council. He served multiple terms on the council before successfully running for the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1990, representing the 55th Assembly District. During his tenure, he became known for his work on the Joint Finance Committee, where he played a significant role in shaping the state budget. Kaufert served in the Assembly until 2015, after which he transitioned to local government, serving as the Mayor of Neenah from 2014 to 2022.
After a brief hiatus from state politics, Kaufert returned to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2025, this time representing the 53rd Assembly District. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for his commitment to fiscal responsibility, small business development, and community engagement. Kaufert’s extensive experience in both state and local government has made him a respected figure in Wisconsin politics.
