Senator Dora Drake

Dora Drake is a Democratic politician serving in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing the 4th Senate District. She assumed office on December 19, 2024, and her current term is set to end in January 2029.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dora Drake grew up in the Graceland neighborhood. She pursued higher education at Marquette University, where she graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare and Justice. As a first-generation college student, she was part of the Educational Opportunities Program, which played a significant role in shaping her commitment to community service and advocacy.

Before entering politics, Drake worked with JusticePoint, a nonprofit organization focused on criminal justice reform. Her role involved providing resources such as housing, employment, and treatment options to individuals navigating the justice system. She also facilitated racial-bias and trauma-informed response training for professionals in the field, showcasing her dedication to equity and systemic change.

Drake’s political journey began with her involvement in local campaigns, including serving as a campaign manager for a school board candidate. Inspired by her community work, she ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2020, representing the 11th District. During her tenure, she focused on issues such as literacy, economic stability, and reentry services for formerly incarcerated individuals. Her leadership and vision earned her widespread recognition, paving the way for her election to the State Senate in 2024.
