Representative Kevin Petersen

Kevin Petersen is a Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing District 57. He assumed office on January 6, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 4, 2027.

Born on December 14, 1964, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, Kevin Petersen has dedicated much of his life to public service and leadership. He graduated from Waupaca High School in 1983 and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1989. Before entering politics, Petersen served in the United States Navy from 1983 to 1994, including during the Gulf War. He continued his service in the U.S. Navy Reserve until 2008.

Petersen’s political career began at the local level, where he served as a Town of Dayton supervisor from 2001 to 2007. In 2006, he successfully ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing District 40. Over the years, he has held various leadership roles, including Assistant Majority Leader and Speaker Pro Tempore. In 2025, Petersen transitioned to representing District 57 in the Assembly.

In addition to his legislative work, Petersen is a co-owner of a family-run electronics corporation. He is also an active member of his community, participating in organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), AMVETS, and the American Legion. His dedication to both his constituents and his country has been a hallmark of his career.
