Representative Marisabel Cabrera
Marisabel Cabrera, born on December 12, 1975, is an American lawyer and Democratic politician hailing from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has been serving as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 9th Assembly district since 2019. Her journey into public service has been marked by dedication and achievement.
Education: Marisabel graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1993. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Iberian Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and earned her J.D. from Michigan State University College of Law in 2002. Legal Career: As an immigration attorney, Marisabel worked both in private practice and with the non-profit organization Voces de la Frontera (“Voices from the Border”). Political Involvement: She is a former chair of the Milwaukee Police and Fire Commission and has actively contributed to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin Latino Caucus. Election Triumphs: In 2018, Marisabel successfully challenged incumbent Assemblymember Josh Zepnick in a Democratic primary election. She was elected without opposition in the 2018 general election.
