John Winter was born in Cody, Wyoming, United States. He pursued his education at the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1972 with a B.S. in range management.
Political Career
In November 2018, Winter secured his first election victory, winning the Wyoming House of Representatives seat for the 28th district with an impressive 75.1% of the vote. He officially assumed office on January 7, 2019, representing the Republican party. His commitment to public service continued, and in the subsequent election, he defeated Democrat Levi Shinkle with a resounding 81.6% of the vote. Notably, Winter supported an attempt to challenge the presidential election results in four states by joining Texas in a lawsuit (Texas v. Pennsylvania).
Views on Wild Horses
Rep. Winter has expressed his stance on wild horse management. He believes that allowing the slaughter of federally protected wild horses is essential.
