Senator Taft Love

Taft Love is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the Wyoming State Senate, representing District 6. He assumed office on September 9, 2025, and his current term will conclude on January 1, 2029.

Love was born in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1974 or 1975, and later pursued his education in Wyoming. He attended Laramie County Community College before earning a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and science from the University of Wyoming in 2000. His professional career has been diverse, including work as a biologist for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, where he contributed to wildlife management and conservation efforts. In addition to his scientific background, Love is also a rancher and business owner, experiences that have given him a strong understanding of both environmental stewardship and the economic challenges faced by Wyoming communities.

Love’s public service began prior to his election to the State Senate. In May 2014, he was appointed to the board of trustees of Laramie County School District Number 2, where he worked to improve educational opportunities and strengthen local schools. His involvement in education governance reflected his commitment to community development and his belief in the importance of preparing future generations for success. These experiences laid the groundwork for his eventual transition into state-level politics.

In the 2024 election cycle, Love ran for the Wyoming State Senate to represent District 6. He succeeded Darin Smith, another Republican, and officially assumed office in September 2025. District 6 covers parts of Laramie and Platte counties, areas that are deeply connected to Wyoming’s agricultural and ranching traditions. Love’s campaign emphasized conservative values, local representation, and policies designed to support families, businesses, and rural communities.
