Thomas Joseph O’Brien (born April 30, 1878) was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from Illinois. Representing Illinois’s 6th Congressional District, he served as a federal legislator for more than three decades during the mid-twentieth century. His long tenure in Congress placed him among the more enduring political figures from his state in that era.

O’Brien began his service in the U.S. House of Representatives on March 9, 1933, and remained in office until January 3, 1965. Over the course of 14 terms, he served continuously as a representative for Illinois’s 6th District. Throughout this period, he was affiliated with the Democratic Party.
