Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin

Markwayne Mullin serves as the 9th secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

Before joining President Trump’s Cabinet, Mullin represented the people of Oklahoma for 13 years in both the United States Senate and House of Representatives. During his time in the Senate, he became a key policymaker linking the Republican-led House, Senate, and White House in support of President Trump’s legislative agenda and helped push major legislation, including the National Defense Authorization Act, the Give Kids a Chance Act, and the administration’s appropriations bills.

Mullin is a successful business owner, working cow-calf rancher, and the husband of Christie Mullin. Together they are the parents of six children: Jayce, Jim, Andrew, Larra, Ivy, and Lynette. A lifelong Oklahoman, he grew up on his family’s ranch in Westville and later took over the family business, Mullin Plumbing, after his father became ill.

Over the past 25 years, Markwayne and Christie Mullin expanded Mullin Plumbing and founded other businesses. Mullin is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation and a former undefeated mixed martial arts fighter who was inducted into the Oklahoma Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016.
