Representative William Louis Dickinson

William Louis Dickinson (born June 5, 1925) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Alabama. He represented Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District and served as a federal legislator for nearly three decades. His long tenure in Congress placed him among the more enduring political figures from his state in the latter half of the twentieth century.

Dickinson first entered the U.S. House of Representatives on January 4, 1965, beginning his service in the 89th Congress. He remained in office continuously until January 3, 1993, completing 14 terms as a representative. Throughout this period, he served as a Republican voice for Alabama’s 2nd District, participating in the legislative process during a time of significant political and social change in the United States.
