William Calvin Oates (born November 30, 1835) was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from Alabama. Representing Alabama’s 3rd Congressional District, he served as a federal legislator during the late nineteenth century and was affiliated with the Democratic Party throughout his tenure in Congress.

Oates began his service in the U.S. House on December 5, 1881, and remained in office until March 3, 1895. Over the course of these years, he completed seven terms as a Representative, reflecting a sustained period of electoral support in his district and continuity in his role as a lawmaker. During this time, he served as a historical member of Congress from Alabama, participating in the national legislative process as part of the Democratic delegation.
