Annie Koutrakis, a Canadian Liberal politician, was born on November 22, 1960. She emerged as a prominent Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons of Canada after securing victory in the federal riding of Vimy during the 2019 Canadian federal election. Her commitment and support from the constituents led to her re-election in the 2021 Canadian Federal Election. Koutrakis’ political journey has been marked by notable achievements and significant contributions to the Canadian political landscape.

Before venturing into politics, Koutrakis accumulated three decades of experience in investment firms. Her expertise and understanding of the financial sector laid a solid foundation for her political career. Born in Montreal and residing in Laval for 26 years, Koutrakis obtained her Diploma in Social Sciences/Business Administration from Dawson College. She further pursued studies in Human Resources Management at Concordia University, enhancing her knowledge in various areas relevant to her political pursuits.

Being fluently trilingual in French, English, and Greek, Koutrakis possesses exceptional communication skills, allowing her to connect with a diverse range of constituents. Notable past roles include serving on the Board of CLSC Normand-Bethune, the Hellenic Social Services of Quebec, and the Board of the Hellenic Board of Trade of Montreal. She also actively contributed as Vice President of the Parents Committee at Ecole Démosthènes and served on the Alexandria Fundraising Committee in Laval.

Koutrakis’ entry into federal politics occurred during the 2019 Canadian federal election when she successfully campaigned in the riding of Vimy, located in Laval, Quebec. Her resounding victory was a testament to her dedication, strong support base, and ability to connect with the electorate. She succeeded Eva Nassif, the outgoing Liberal MP who had previously represented the riding from 2015 to 2019.
