Representative Simon Kennedy

Simon Kennedy is the Federal Member of Parliament for Cook, representing the Liberal Party of Australia. He was elected in a by-election in 2024 following the resignation of Scott Morrison.

Kennedy grew up in New South Wales and began his career working as a check-out clerk at a local supermarket while pursuing degrees in Law and Commerce at the University of New South Wales. He graduated with distinction and embarked on a successful corporate career.

Starting as a graduate lawyer specializing in mergers and acquisitions, Kennedy later joined the global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he became a Partner. At McKinsey, he co-led the Australian Public Sector and Technology Practices, contributing to economic and job recovery policies, Australia’s energy transition, and urban development strategies. He also served as a Partner at Banksia, advising government leaders and CEOs on national matters across Australia, the United States, Asia, and the Caribbean.

Before returning to Australia, Kennedy spent six years in Washington, D.C., advising U.S. government leaders on economic recovery following the Global Financial Crisis. His expertise extended to working with state governments on economic and transportation strategies, and he has guest lectured at the Wharton Business School.

As a Member of Parliament, Kennedy focuses on innovation, technology, housing, and economic productivity. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys spending time with his children, playing in the local park, and watching rugby league together.
