Senator Ron Taylor
Ron Taylor is an American politician who serves as a Democratic member for the 26th district of the Idaho Senate. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and attended the University of Utah.
Before his political career, Taylor had a diverse professional background. He graduated from Olympus High and attended the University of Utah, where he studied anthropology and genetics. He also attended paramedic school and fire academy. He served 27 years as a firefighter and paramedic with Wood River Fire & Rescue, where he reached the rank of captain, and Ketchum Fire Department.
In addition to his professional career, Taylor has a long history of community service. He served one year on the Blaine County Planning and Zoning Commission and has more than 30 years of volunteer service with various organizations including the crisis hotline, Mountain Humane, Wood River Trails Coalition, and Wood River Land Trust. He is an Eagle Scout and received the President’s Volunteer Service Award in recognition of his public service in 2022.
In November 2022, Taylor defeated Laurie Lickley in the general election for the 26th district of the Idaho Senate, winning 51 percent of the vote. He assumed office on December 1, 2022. He currently resides in Hailey, Idaho with his wife, Alex.
