Representative Linda Harriott-Gathright
Linda C. Harriott-Gathright is an American politician serving as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from the Hillsborough 36 district. She assumed office on December 5, 2018.
Born in Philadelphia, Harriott-Gathright graduated from West Philadelphia High School. She earned an Associate of Science degree and Bachelor of Science from Daniel Webster College.
Harriott-Gathright worked for Verizon Communications from 1974 to 2008, where she specialized in contracts. She also served as a member of the Nashua Board of Alderman, Nashua Board of Health, and Nashua Housing Authority. She served as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives for the Hillsborough 36 district from 2012 to 2014 and was elected again in 2018.
In addition to her political career, Harriott-Gathright has been involved in various community services. She is a mother of 5, grandmother of 12, and has been a resident of Nashua for 41 years and a resident of Ward 9 for 35 years. She has dedicated 37 years of her life to community service as an advocate of families, youth, jobs, civil rights, and criminal justice.
She is a trustee of New Fellowship Baptist Church Nashua, NH, treasurer of Tri-State Baptist Convention MA, RI & NH, and a Nashua substitute teacher K-12, since 2009. She is a member of Nashua Board of Aldermen for Ward 9, 2nd term and a NH State Representative representing Hills 36 Ward 9, serving in the Criminal Justice Committee as the Clerk and Budget Committee Member for Hillsborough County.
She is a board member of NH Women’s Heritage Trail, NH Black Women Health Project (NHBWHP), executive board member of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), 1st Vice President of Greater Nashua Area NAACP (GNANAACP), advisor to Southern NH Outreach for Black Unity (OBU), co-chair Nashua Community Conversation on Race & Justice (NCCRJ), and has served on many boards and co-founded several community organizations.
She retired from Verizon after 34 years in non-management and management positions where she had a background in writing contracts for third party vendors as well as writing processes and procedures for then new technology (DSL, Fiber). She managed a team of 4-240 personnel. She is a former NH Commissioner for the Status of Women and a former Manchester, NH IBEW 2320 steward and member.
