Representative Loren Selig
Loren Selig is a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Strafford 10. She assumed office on December 7, 2022, and her current term ends on December 4, 2024. She is a member of the Democratic Party.
Loren Selig lives in Durham, New Hampshire with her husband, their two teenagers one a leader in JEDI work and the other a philantropreneur, and their two goofy dogs. Originally from New Jersey, she has worked and lived in New Hampshire for nearly two decades.
Before her political career, she was a teacher. Now, she works in real estate and serves on the Board of Temple Israel-Portsmouth and the Advisory Council for The Elephant In The Room (EITR) Program for The New Hampshire Theatre Project. She loves New Hampshire’s amazing breadth of resources from the beach to the mountains, and from the city to the country. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family and friends, volunteering, reading and exploring all the wonders of New Hampshire, especially Durham’s many delightful resources.
She is new to being a member of local government, but has volunteered at local elections as a ballot clerk and deputy clerk since 2004. She represents the town of Durham.
In terms of education, Loren Selig graduated from Newark Academy in 1988. She earned a B.A. in English and education from Clark University in 1991 and an M.A.T. in education from Johns Hopkins University in 1996.
Her career experience includes working as a realtor with Arthur Thomas Properties, a sales agent with Keller Williams Coastal Realty, and an English teacher with Howard County Public Schools. She has served on the board of Temple Israel of Portsmouth.
In the New Hampshire House of Representatives, she is a member of the Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety. The committee considers all matters relating to the criminal code; criminal justice, the Department of Corrections, sentencing, drug enforcement, bail, probation, parole, corrections facilities, DWI, domestic violence, firearms, fireworks, police and fire training, victims’ assistance and such other matters as may be referred to it.
