Thomas Cormen
Thomas Cormen is an Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at Dartmouth College, where he spent over 29 years on the faculty and taught the introductory Computer Science course 25 times. During his tenure, he chaired the Computer Science department for six years and was the founding director of the Dartmouth College Institute for Writing and Rhetoric, which he led for four years.
In the field of Computer Science, Cormen is renowned as the lead author of the textbook Introduction to Algorithms, often referred to as CLRS after the initials of its four co-authors. The book has been translated into several languages and has sold over one million copies worldwide. Additionally, he authored Algorithms Unlocked. Despite the widespread use of “CLRS” across six continents, Cormen is most proud of the students he mentored throughout his career.
Cormen has been a resident of Ward 3 in Lebanon since 1993. His late wife, Nicole, served Lebanon in various capacities for 19 years, including seven as a City Councilor. He is passionate about his city and is committed to representing it in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.
