Representative Joanne Ferrary Contact information

Joanne Ferrary is a dedicated public servant and a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives, representing District 37. She has been serving in this position since she won her election in 2016. Her current term is set to end on December 31, 2024. She is also running for re-election to continue representing District 37, with the Democratic primary scheduled for June 4, 2024.

Born and raised in Las Cruces, Joanne Ferrary has been a resident of the city for over 32 years. She moved to Las Cruces in 1980 to attend college while raising two children as a single mother. She received both her undergraduate and MBA degrees from New Mexico State University.

Before becoming a State Representative, Joanne Ferrary served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Las Cruces. She also worked for the New Mexico Department of Transportation and coordinated anti-DWI efforts statewide. Her passion for public safety led her to work tirelessly with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to reduce underage drinking and the number of DWI crashes throughout New Mexico.

In addition to her work in public safety, Joanne Ferrary has been a dedicated community servant. She served as co-chair for the Coalition for Pets and People and has been both a Board Member and a dedicated volunteer with the NM Make-A-Wish Foundation.

As a State Representative, Joanne Ferrary is currently the Chair of the Consumer and Public Affairs Committee and a member of the Health & Human Services Committee. She remains dedicated to expanding healthcare in New Mexico, fighting for women’s rights, and investing in public education. Her professional experience includes working as a program coordinator, consultant, and volunteer in DWI and underage drinking prevention.

Throughout her tenure, Joanne Ferrary has been assigned to various committees. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, she was assigned to the Consumer & Public Affairs Committee as Chair and the Health & Human Services Committee. In the 2021-2022 session, she was assigned to the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee and the Health & Human Services Committee as Vice chair. In the 2019-2020 session, she was assigned to the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Committee and the Health & Human Services Committee as Vice Chair.
