Representative Mitchell Setzer
Mitchell Smith Setzer, born on March 12, 1965, is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly. He represents the state’s 89th House district, which includes constituents in Catawba and Iredell counties. Setzer assumed office in 1999 and his current term ends on January 1, 2025.
Setzer was born in and resides in Catawba, North Carolina. He is a business executive by profession and serves as the Vice President of Smith Setzer & Sons, Inc., a pipe company based out of the town of Catawba.
Setzer has had a long and distinguished career in the North Carolina House of Representatives. He has served 13 terms in the House and has held various committee assignments throughout his tenure. In the 2023-2024 session, he served on the Energy and Public Utilities Committee, Ethics Committee (as Vice Chair), House Finance Committee (as Senior Chair), Health Committee, Insurance Committee (as Chair), Local Government Committee, and UNC BOG Nominations Committee.
