Representative Ray Jeffers
Representative B. Ray Jeffers is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 2nd district, which includes all of Person County, as well as part of Durham County, since 2023.
Ray Jeffers attended Person County Schools and went on to attend Piedmont Community College (PCC) and North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State University (A&T). He served for 12 years as an elected Person County Commissioner from 2008 to 2020, including Chairman in 2020. In addition, he served 11 years on the board of directors for the N.C. Association of County Commissioners from 2009 to 2020 and was elected President from 2013-2014. Ray also served five terms on the National Association of Counties board of directors. Ray continues to serve on several local and state boards.
He assumed office on January 1, 2023, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025. Jeffers is running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 2. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. The Democratic primary for this office on March 5, 2024, was canceled.
