Steve Tyson is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He represents the 3rd district, which includes parts of Craven County. Tyson assumed office on January 1, 2021, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Steve Tyson is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He represents the 3rd district, which includes parts of Craven County. Tyson assumed office on January 1, 2021, and his current term ends on January 1, 2025.

Tyson is a proud native of Craven County. Except for his time on active duty in the Army, he has lived there his entire life. He served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976. He is a proud veteran, the father of a veteran, and the son of a WWII POW. He understands the importance of our military, and the challenges of our military families.

In addition to his military service, Tyson’s career experience includes working as a general contractor, as a real estate broker, and owning a business. He has served on the boards of the Carolina East Medical Center, Craven100 Economic Development Alliance, Craven County Disaster Recovery Alliance, Military Order of the Purple Heart Wounded Warrior Leave Program, Travel and Tourism Development Authority, Coastal Regional Solid Waste Authority, Metropolitan Planning Organization, Swiss Bear, Tryon Palace Commission, New Bern Public Library, Eastern Region Council of Government, Kellenberger Foundation|HWY 70 Commission, Criminal Justice Advisory Board, Craven County Smart Start, Eastern NC Workforce Development Board, Craven County Homebuilders Association, Uptown Business Professionals, and the New Bern Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee.

Tyson is currently running for re-election to the North Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 3. He is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024.
