Todd Porter was born on November 17, 1960, in Bismarck, North Dakota, United States. He is an American politician and a member of the Republican party. He has been serving as a member of the North Dakota House of Representatives from the 34th District since 1999.

In addition to his political career, Todd Porter is also the owner and a paramedic at Metro-Area Ambulance Service, Inc. He completed his paramedic program at Century College. He has been the chairman of the House Energy and Natural Resources Committee since 2007.

Porter is also the Chair of the Bismarck/Burleigh County 911 Center. He is a member of several organizations including Elks, Pheasants Forever, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Bismarck/Mandan Chamber EDC, and the Greater North Dakota Chamber.

In 2019, a controversy arose over Porter’s business links to the President of the North Dakota Petroleum Council and lobbyist Ron Ness. However, Porter denied that these links had any effect on his legislative behavior.

He is married to Shirley and they have two children. They reside at 4604 Borden Harbor Drive SE, Mandan, ND 58554-7961.

As a representative, Porter has sponsored several bills and has been an active participant in the legislative assembly. He has been a part of the Interim Standing Human Services and Procedural Committees. He has also been a part of the 68th Legislative Assembly - Regular Session in 2023 and the Special Legislative Session in October 2023.
