Representative Joe Towns



Joe Towns Jr. (born in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American politician. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science from LeMoyne–Owen College and his Master of Science from the University of Arkansas. Throughout his career, Towns has served as a college instructor, entrepreneur, and business owner.

Elections:

  • In 1994, Towns was initially elected in the November 8, 1994 General election.
  • He was challenged in the 1996 Democratic Primary but was unopposed for the November 5, 1996 General election.
  • In 1998, Towns faced a challenge in the August 6, 1998 Democratic Primary, winning with 3,621 votes (63.9%). He was unopposed for the November 3, 1998 General election.
  • In 2000, he won the August 3, 2000 Democratic Primary with 2,430 votes (67.3%) and was unopposed for the November 7, 2000 General election.
  • In 2002, Towns was unopposed for the August 1, 2002 Democratic Primary and won the November 5, 2002 General election with 9,930 votes (86.1%).
  • He continued to win subsequent elections in 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010.
