Early Life and Education: Yager attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts and history in 1969. He continued his education at the same institution, obtaining a master’s degree in Education in 1972. Later, he earned his Juris Doctor in law from the University of Memphis in 1977. During his student years, Yager worked as a cashier and janitor.
