Senator Andy Julow, representing the Grand Isle district in the Vermont Senate, has a distinguished career marked by dedication to public service and community development. Born in Burlington, Vermont, Andy grew up in South Hero, where he developed a deep connection to the Lake Champlain Islands.

Andy pursued higher education at Montana State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in history. His early career began with the National Parks Service, where he worked at significant historical sites such as the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall in Philadelphia. This experience instilled in him a profound appreciation for history and public service.

Transitioning from his role in the National Parks Service, Andy ventured into the field of captive insurance before founding his own software design firm. He successfully ran this business for 11 years, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and leadership skills.

In 2021, Andy was appointed as the Executive Director of the Lake Champlain Islands Economic Development Corporation. His leadership and vision were instrumental in driving economic growth and development in the region. By 2023, he had ascended to the position of President of the Regional Development Corporations of Vermont, further solidifying his impact on the state’s economic landscape.

Andy has also been deeply involved in local governance and education. He served as the Chair of the North Hero and Champlain Islands Unified School District for nine years, demonstrating his commitment to improving educational opportunities for the community. Additionally, he chaired the North Hero Development Review Board for five years, contributing to the thoughtful and sustainable development of the area.

An avid runner and hiker, Andy achieved the status of an Adirondack 46er in 2022, a testament to his love for the outdoors and personal endurance. He also completed his first ultra-marathon in 2017, highlighting his dedication to physical fitness and perseverance.

Andy resides in North Hero with his wife, Corinn, in a home he constructed himself. They have two grown daughters who continue to inspire him. His journey from a history graduate to a prominent state senator is a testament to his unwavering dedication to public service, community development, and personal growth.
