Jesse Salomon, born in 1976, is an American politician affiliated with the Democratic Party. He assumed office as a member of the Washington State Senate, representing District 32, in 2019.

Elected to the Washington State Senate in 2018, Sen. Jesse Salomon has demonstrated leadership, energy, and compassion in representing Washington’s 32nd Legislative District, which includes Shoreline, Woodway, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and Northwest Seattle.

Through his advocacy and legislative work, Jesse has become known as a champion for the environment, youth and children, behavioral health, and affordable housing.

In recent sessions, he has sponsored legislation to protect victims of domestic violence, encourage the creation of affordable housing, require waiting periods and training requirements for gun purchases, protect salmon, restore salmon habitats, and utilize psilocybin in the treatment of mental health.

Jesse serves on four Senate committees: Agriculture, Water, Natural Resources & Parks (Vice Chair), Local Government, Land Use & Tribal Affairs (Vice Chair), Law & Justice, and Rules.

As a Senator, Jesse has supported legislation related to:

Addressing Washington’s affordable housing crisis Expanding access to mental health and substance abuse treatment Protecting our salmon habitats and shoreline. Fighting hate and bias-based crimes Jesse has also secured funding for local priorities, including:

$2 million to provide housing for homeless students The Edmonds Marsh project $1.4 million to assist pregnant and new mothers in drug and alcohol recovery to unite them with their children and to prevent those children from having to enter the foster care system Money for salmon hatcheries Expansion of a center at the University of Washington to combat transnational environmental crimes Prior to being elected to the Senate, Jesse served for seven years on the Shoreline City Council, including one year as deputy mayor. This city government experience has given him the knowledge to represent the cities of the 32nd.

Jesse is a licensed attorney. His 15 years of experience as a public defender and prosecutor, serving as lead counsel in approximately 40 jury trials, has given him a comprehensive view of the legal system which informs his work on the Senate Law & Justice committee.
