Lillian Ortiz-Self, born in 1960, is an American politician affiliated with the Democratic Party. She assumed office as a member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing District 21-Position 2, on January 22, 2014.

Lillian Ortiz-Self is an American politician serving as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from the 21st District. She has represented the 21st Legislative District since January 2014 and is a member of the leadership team, serving as Majority Caucus chair. Lillian also holds the position of chair of the Washington State Latino Democratic Caucus.

Her professional background is diverse, reflecting her commitment to human services. She has served as the clinical director of the Tri-City Mental Health Center in Missouri, regional coordinator for the Illinois State Board of Education, education advisor for the Department of Children and Family Services, and director and founder of the Comunidad Unida Project—a center for Latino families and youth.

Lillian’s educational qualifications include a Masters in Public Administration and a Masters in Counseling from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Currently, she works in the Everett Public School District as a school counselor, contributing to the well-being and development of students.

Beyond her legislative duties, Lillian is actively involved in various committees. She serves on the Human Services, Youth & Early Learning; Education; Labor and Workplace Standards; and Rules Committees. Additionally, she co-chairs the state’s Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee. Her commitment extends beyond the state level; she is also on the Executive Committee of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators, currently serving as secretary.

Lillian Ortiz-Self is a proud parent of three children: Leanna, who graduated from Columbia University in Chicago; Tyler, a mechanical engineer; and Kayla, a second-year law student in New York.
