Senator Paul Harris

Paul Harris is a Republican member of the Washington State Senate, representing District 17. He assumed office on January 13, 2025, and his current term is set to end on January 8, 2029.

Born on April 12, 1953, in Portland, Oregon, Paul Harris has had a long and distinguished career in public service and business. Before joining the Senate, he served in the Washington House of Representatives from 2011 to 2025, representing the same district. His journey into politics was preceded by a successful career in the private sector, where he owned Cascade Paint & Supply and served as Vice President of Miller Paint Company. His leadership skills were also evident during his tenure on the Evergreen School Board of Directors.

Harris holds an Associate degree from Ricks College and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Brigham Young University. His educational background laid the foundation for his professional achievements and his ability to navigate complex legislative issues.

Throughout his political career, Harris has been a strong advocate for education, healthcare, and community development. He has served on various committees, including those focused on early learning, transportation, and health care. On a personal note, Harris is a cancer survivor, a testament to his resilience and determination. He is married to Lori Harris, and together they have five children. The family resides in Vancouver, Washington, where Harris remains deeply connected to his community. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his faith has been a guiding force in his life and work.
