Dave Kinskey is an American politician and a Republican member of the Wyoming State Senate, representing the 22nd district since July 8, 2014. He previously served, from 2005 until his appointment to the State Senate, as the Mayor of Sheridan, Wyoming.

Early Life and Business Career:

  • Kinskey spent a great deal of time at the YMCA during his youth.
  • He received an economics degree from Harvard University in 1972 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wyoming in 1982.
  • Following law school, he worked as a practicing attorney, realtor, and business executive.
  • In 1988, he acquired the company M&M Home Medical Inc. and was also the business owner of TK, LLC.
  • Kinskey served as a board member of SEEDA.

Mayoral Career:

  • From 2005 until July 8, 2014, Kinskey served as the Mayor of Sheridan, Wyoming.
  • During his tenure, he initiated projects such as the north main interchange of the city.
  • He advocated for the re-fluoridation of the city’s water and supported policy in favor of the coal industry.
  • Under his leadership, the city balanced the budget, built financial reserves, and streamlined approval processes.
  • Kinskey resigned from his unexpired mayoral term in 2014 after being appointed to the Wyoming State Senate.

Wyoming Senate:

  • In 2014, Kinskey received 67.7% of the vote from Johnson and Sheridan County Commissioners to fill the seat left vacant after incumbent Republican Senator John Schiffer’s passing.
  • He served the last year and a half of Schiffer’s term.
  • Kinskey was subsequently elected by voters in 2016 and 2020, running unopposed in both elections.
  • As a senator, he has been a champion for lower taxes, smaller government, job creation, education, gun rights, and the right to life.
