Representative Dave Jacoby Contact information

David Jacoby, born in 1956, is a dedicated public servant and the Iowa State Representative from the 86th District. A member of the Democratic Party, he has been serving in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2003. He was elected in a special election following the resignation of Dick Myers.

Jacoby was born and raised in Marion, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School and later obtained his B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa. He is the son of George and Millie Jacoby. He is married to his wife Lynette and together they have two daughters, Ellie and Anna.

In his professional life outside of politics, Jacoby is a small business owner. His business, Dave’s Resale, works in estate sales. Prior to his tenure in the House, he served two terms on the Coralville City Council. He also served on the Iowa Workforce Development Board for eight years.

Jacoby currently serves on several committees in the Iowa House - the Appropriations committee; the Human Resources committee; the State Government committee; and the Commerce committee, where he is chair. He was reelected in 2006 with 9,639 votes, running unopposed.

In addition to his political and business pursuits, Jacoby is a member of several organizations: Carpenter’s Local 1260, Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, Youth Leadership Program Board, Alternative School Committee, Empowerment Board, Juvenile Justice Committee, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Jacoby’s commitment to his community and his state is evident in his long record of public service. His work in the Iowa House of Representatives continues to impact the lives of his constituents and the state of Iowa.
